About the Training

This practical, interactive training session has been designed specifically for Oxford University Press Marketing team’s away day. It will be a chance to reset, refocus, and re-energise. Across the full day you will explore the mindsets, behaviours and skills that build personal impact, strengthen assertiveness and enable more purposeful communication.

You will come away feeling empowered. Armed with the advanced communication skills to manage up to senior colleagues and will have the confidence to make suggestions and gain buy-in. You will learn how to drive conversations, confidently and assertively and present the best, authentic versions of yourselves.

Module 1: Executive Presence

  • Be the very best authentic version of yourself

  • Consider how you want to be known

  • Adapt to connect with others: first impressions, body language, verbal cues

  • Command trust and respect, by finding the perfect balance between warmth and competence

  • Stay present and demonstrate active listening to respond, not react

Module 2: Influence and Persuading

  • Communicate with gravitas and authority, whatever your seniority

  • Build an irrefutable business case, using the NOSE model

  • Adopt a ‘value not cost’ mindset; demonstrate the ‘why’ not the ‘what’

  • Use persuasive, influencer language to make recommendations

  • Know the power of assertiveness and appreciate its benefits

Module 3. Presentation Skills

  • Use storytelling to engage the audience, no matter the audience size

  • Deliver complex information in an accessible, captivating way

  • Know how to use visuals and PowerPoint correctly

  • Understand how to use the power of 3

  • Control your style – volume, tone, clarity and pace

  • Read and command the room or Zoom; know where/how to sit/stand

Module 4. Challenging Conversations

  • Learn how to structure important conversations

  • Identify the five negotiating levers and know when to apply them

  • Learn how to say ‘yes, if…,’ rather than ‘no, because’

  • Know your leverage • Demonstrate assertiveness

About Isobel

Isobel is a communications skills and leadership trainer. Her talent is in tailoring training sessions to clients' specific objectives whilst building trust with delegates and elevating their confidence. Her style is known for being energetic, fun and engaging.
